I know its waay to early for me to be looking at invites but i guess no harm in sussing out things. I ordered some samples last week so I guess now im excited !!
I am wanting to do card invites kind of like a birthday card open uppy ones. Just wanting to know if any girls have done this and if you printed straight on the card or printed on paper then stuck in ? If you used paper did you just have a square for half or full paper and how did you stick this in ?
somthing like this...

I did invitations that opened up. The inside was a separate sheet of paper that I put through my printer and then cut and taped inside. You have to secure the paper right near the fold otherwise it buckles when you fold the card.
In retrospect I wish I had done A5 cards and printed directly on the card. No cutting or folding. |

Our invites weren't like that but if i was making those, I'd buy the main card bit pre-cut and folded and then print the details on a separate bit of paper and glue it in. Reason being that when you use heavy card, it doesn't fold that well if you cut it to size and fold it yourself. Also then you can print the details on a contrasting colour paper or on pretty vellum paper to make it look even more speccy
As for sticking it all together - I tried a few different things in the course of making our invites (glue tape, double sided tape and craft glue) and I found glue tape to be the best. Not the cheapest option but it makes it so easy and when you're making invites, anything that makes the job easier is worth the extra little bit of cash in my opinion!! _________________

when i went to one of the invite shops they actually told me you have to be careful what paper you want to use for your invites as a few of them don't allow you to print directly onto them.. hence then you have to print on a card and stick it on the front.. i think this goes for most of the cards that you use for foldy invites unfortunately so its a bit more fiddling around!!
and its never to early to look at invites.. ive been sussing them out over the last few weeks too _________________

Ooh also some paper is only suitable for a specific type of printer so be careful! Our address labels we got were only suitable for laser printers and I didn't realise at first - printed one sheet on our inkjet printer and it looked awful! I had to take them into work and print them out there haha _________________

Our invites were very similar to that design! They were small though...if you imagine a landscape A4 sheet of paper, cut into 3 vertical strips. Then each strip was folded in half to form a litttle square card.
We printed 3 copies of the invite straight onto metallic card, cut the strips then scored the card so we could fold it. Then we glued on the lace, green detail with our names/date on it and we also added a thin cream ribbon above the green strip (like your pic) and a little pearl but its not in the pic I have. Will have to see if I have better pics at home.
We got our inlaws to print and guillotine them (they have a printing business yay!) and we DIYed the rest.
